A2i Professional Support System

Personalized instruction, a new way

Learning Ovations’ A2i Professional Support System combines technology and professional development to increase literacy achievement for all students in grades K-3.

A2i is a professional support system – not a new reading curriculum – that leverages and seamlessly integrates districts’ existing assessments and curriculum to help teachers take the guesswork out of differentiating reading instruction for each child. The team behind A2i ensures districts’ success by providing customized training and support throughout the implementation, holding themselves accountable for districts’ results.

Teachers in A2i districts are able to develop the capacity to finally do what they have been previously unable to do: deliver personalized instruction so that every student is successfully reading by the end of 3rd grade.

94% of students who use A2i are able to read at, or above, grade level by the end of 3rd grade

The results of 7 randomized control trials, with nearly 2000 students, are persuasive: students read at, or above, grade level if their reading instruction is tailored to their language and reading skills from 1st to 3rd grade.

The A2i Difference

A2i software uses research-validated algorithms to analyze student assessment data and inform teachers of the type and amount of instruction needed to maximize reading growth for each student. Additionally, the software indexes the districts’ core curriculum and points teachers to the best learning activities to use for whole-group, small-group, and individual instruction.

ASSESS

Students take 10-minute assessments 3-5 times per year – or, schools import assessment data from other assessments, like DIBELS – to inform teachers of each student’s instructional needs.

ANALYZE

A2i’s research-validated algorithms analyze the assessment data and accurately determine the type and amount of instruction each student needs to excel at his or her maximum rate.

INFORM

A2i takes the guesswork out of planning by informing teacher not only on the type and amount of instruction each child needs but also how best to group students to make the most of teaching time.

INSTRUCT

A2i indexes schools’ core curricula and points teachers to the right activities to use with each student or group of students. A2i also includes supplemental activities for just-in-time instruction.

MONITOR

The A2i dashboard provides real-time data so teachers can monitor progress and make instructional decisions based on student needs.

Professional Development

LiteracySCAN

Strategic Planning
  •
  • The LiteracySCAN is the first step in the implementation process. Literacy experts guide district leadership through an examination of current literacy practices. This enables Learning Ovations to customize A2i to maximize existing resources and achieve literacy K-3 goals.

Initial Training

Software Overview
  •
  • At the beginning of the school year Learning Ovations will present an overview of A2i and meet teachers. This meeting will be approximately 1.5-2 hours in length and include an A2i presentation, discussion of the assessment and teacher survey-to inform PD instruction.

Classroom Visits

In-Class Coaching
  •
  • Two or three times per year, teachers will schedule an in-class classroom visit. A Learning Ovations Literacy Coach will visit the classroom and provide coaching for teachers. Following this observation, feedback related to the literacy instruction will be given.

Admin Coaching

Performance Feedback
  •
  • School leadership staff will be updated throughout the year. These meetings will serve as a way to update leadership staff on student performance and teacher usage of A2i. Following the update, principals will be given the chance to ask questions and provide feedback.
